Dune Security Joins the National Cybersecurity Alliance to Champion Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Dune Security has joined forces with the National Cybersecurity Alliance to champion Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Together, we’re working to strengthen the human layer of cybersecurity and equip employees to stay safe online against modern threats.

October 1 marks the start of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about online safety and empowering individuals and organizations to protect themselves from cybercrime.
In honor of this, Dune Security is proud to announce our partnership with the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA), the nonprofit that created and continues to lead this global initiative alongside the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. For more than twenty years, NCA has been working to make cybersecurity practical and accessible, helping people safeguard their families, their data, and their businesses from online threats.
This year’s theme, Stay Safe Online, underscores how every user plays a role in protecting their workplace, their personal lives, and the broader digital world we all share. In the workplace, a single mistake can ripple across entire organizations, affecting customers, partners, and critical operations. Despite decades of progress, one fact has not changed: 90% of breaches still start with human error. Attackers know the quickest way into an enterprise is often through an employee, whether it is a rushed click, a missed red flag, or misplaced trust in a fraudulent request. By targeting people rather than technology, adversaries exploit the human layer to gain access to corporate systems, data, and accounts – making user risk one of the most urgent challenges in enterprise security.
When employees are actively engaged as part of the security process, they become the strongest line of defense against evolving threats. Building a culture that equips people with the knowledge, confidence, and support to make secure decisions strengthens resilience and measurably reduces user risk across the enterprise.
Our collaboration with NCA reflects a shared commitment to building not just safer enterprises, but a safer digital world. At home, that means protecting the many aspects of our personal lives that now live online – from conversations with loved ones to healthcare portals, financial records, and digital identities that shape how we live and work. At work, it means fostering a strong security culture where employees feel empowered to protect organizational data, systems, and ultimately, the communities and customers they serve.
As Lisa Plaggemier, Executive Director at National Cybersecurity Alliance put it: “The National Cybersecurity Alliance is dedicated to building a more secure, interconnected world. We advocate for the safe use of technology, foster a greater digital good, and help people protect themselves, their families, and their organizations from cybercrime. We value partnering with companies like Dune Security who share this commitment and lead the way in putting employees at the center of cybersecurity. Together, our work extends the reach of Cybersecurity Awareness Month and reinforces that simple, everyday actions can make a meaningful difference in keeping both individuals and organizations safe online.”
At Dune Security, we reduce user risk by putting employees at the center of cybersecurity. Our User Adaptive Risk Management approach simulates multi-channel attacks, scores user risk, and adapts remediations real time — helping organizations prevent insider threats and social engineering at scale. Together with NCA, we are proud to champion Cybersecurity Awareness Month and advance its mission: educating individuals and businesses about online safety, empowering employees, and building resilience that contributes to a stronger, safer digital society for all.

The National Cybersecurity Alliance recommends four foundational practices: using strong passwords and password managers, enabling multi-factor authentication, recognizing and reporting scams, and keeping software updated. These Core Four actions are simple but powerful building blocks of good security hygiene, both at home and at work.
At Dune Security, empowering employees to recognize and resist scams is core to our work. By measuring user risk across the workforce and delivering targeted support, we help organizations identify vulnerabilities early and reduce exposure before attackers can exploit it.
Employees influence the outcome of most cyberattacks. With most breaches still starting from human error, their choices – from spotting scams to slowing down before clicking – directly impact whether an attack succeeds. When equipped with the right tools and support, employees move from being the primary target to becoming the strongest defense, reducing user risk and strengthening resilience across the enterprise.
Cybersecurity should be a year-round priority, but Cybersecurity Awareness Month creates a dedicated time for heightened focus on today’s increasingly sophisticated threats. It encourages organizations to engage employees in meaningful ways, reinforce secure habits, and highlight the everyday actions that make the biggest difference. By concentrating efforts during this month, companies can build momentum that strengthens security culture well beyond October.
As a sponsor, Dune Security is helping expand the reach and impact of this global initiative led by the National Cybersecurity Alliance. Sponsorship means we’re not only participating, but actively investing in resources, education, events, and campaigns that empower individuals and organizations to reduce user risk and strengthen resilience against evolving threats.
Partnerships like this extend the benefits of cybersecurity far beyond any single organization. By working with the NCA, we boost awareness and provide resources to empower millions of individuals, strengthen businesses, and protect communities. Together, we’re helping build a safer, more resilient digital world – one where everyday actions by employees and organizations add up to collective protection against evolving threats.
